surprise long weekend away to Sardinia

My wonderful mrs b, treated me to the most amazing surprise by whirling me off to italy for a long weekend in the sun. I was such a lucky lady to have a amazing best friend like mrs b. The trip was fabulous, it really helped me to wake myself up and focus on me rather than whats been occupying my thoughts. It was a treat and a half not to worry about a thing and just be. I owe mrs b so much for helping me get my spark back, thank you for such a super duper birthday holiday! Love you more xx ...already missing beer o'clock!

last night i saw: ian parnell

After work I scooted up to Kendal to see ian parnell who was doing a talk called 'from the eiger to everest'. The last time I saw him was at the lowery with his joint talk with mr kenton cool, which was inspiring. This talk was a great insight into ian parnell's life, how he has become a well recognised alpinist, mountain photographer and filmmaker. His  slides were fantastic showing his climbs and  expeditions in the Himalaya, Alaska, Greenland, Patagonia and Kyrgyzstan.  He made the first ascent of Arwa Spire in India and has climbed new routes on Annapurna III in Nepal and Saf Minal and Kedar Dome in India.

poem of the day from mrs b

As I walk down this lonely path,
With all the heartaches and pain,
I came upon a rose.
This rose was like no other.
This rose was once alive and bright.
Now this rose is torn and faded.
As I gazed at this rose,
I began to see something so beautiful,
Something so wonderful.
This rose held something so special,
Although abused, it survived.
It was of love and understanding.
It was of gentleness and caring.
Although it has no glory,
It is in its own right beautiful beyond compare.
One that shall not be forgotten,
And will always be shared.

scrambling and climbing weekend

I was lucky enough to hook up with Andy who was spending a week in wales prior to his ML assessment and he needed guinea pigs and I was lucky enough to be one of them! I was fortunate to have a go at grade 3 scrambling and multi pitch climbing by having a go at the direct route, milestone buttress, at tryfan, and I loved every minute of it! I even had the gutts to absaeil - i think my fear of heights is slowly disappearing!

half marathon

This was my second go at a half marathon, and I have to confess I was cream cracked on the day of the race after being so stressed after a hectic 90hr week of work!...so i wasn't really mentally ready for it, but I gave it a go and had fun!
